" The Prohibition" a bit of American History.


Hello Everyone!!!

Do you recognize this word ? Since I know you are doing some research on the setting of the film "Chicago" for your Final Task, I picked this short documentary on " The Prohibition", which not only you can use foryour project but also will count as a classwork grade.   6. Hi! I’m Carolina Villadóniga Díaz and here are my answers from the exercise:
    1.- Prohibition, in the United States, was the government attempt to outlaw the production, sale and shipment of alcohol and intoxic alcoholic beverages across the country.
    2.-“Lips touch liquor shall not touch ours”. It’s an expression used to manifest the some women’s support to the “Prohibition” and who didn’t want to have drinking husbands.
    3.- There were two differents groups , religious factions, that had differents points of view about “The Prohibition” and the alcohol’s intake.The “wets” were the people who was against “Prohibition”, and the “dries” were the people who were in favor of the law.
    4.-Liquor, cider, wine, drink and beer.
    5.- It’s the day, 14th February 1929, know for the murdered of some members of the Chicago’s North side gang by Capone’s gang.
    6.- “What is your gang? Drier or wet?”

    1. The Prohibition was an American constitutional law. That law banned the production, sale and shipment of alcoholic beverages.
    2. It says "Lips that touch liquor shall not touch ours", this means that women were against the liquor that her husbands drank until there were drunk
    3.The "Drys" were the faction that disapproved drinking and the saloons and another spots of alcohol consumption politically corrupt, in the other hand we have the "Wets" were the faction in favour of the alcohol

    1- It was an american government's attempt that banned the production, shipment and sale of alcohol, that was in USA from 1920 to 1933.

    2- It said "Lips that touch liquor shall not touch ours", it means that they refused alcohol because their husbands usually drink (maybe in excess).

    3- The "drys" and the "wets" were two opposite religious factions.
    The "drys" were the part of people, who disapproved drinking and the sallons or another alcohol consumption politically corrupt. And the "wets" were people, who criticized the ban of alcohol.

    4- The words are: liquor, wine, cider and brewing.

    5- In that day, 14th February 1929, was known for the murdered of some members of the Chicago’s North side gang, probabily by Al Capone’s gang.

    6- "Do we need the alcohol like a daily basis?" or "What's wrong with the alcohol?"

    1. "The prohibition" is known as the government's attempt to outlaw the production sale and shipment of alcohol.

    2. The sign behind the group of women say: “Lips touch liquor shall not touch ours”. The behaviour of some men change when they take alcoholic drinks, so many of their wives suffer the consequences.

    3. Clashes arose between conflicting religious faction that were separated into the wets and drys. The drys disapproved of drinkings and considered saloons and other popular sports of alcohol politically corrupt, while the wets wanted the state to remain uninvolved in discussions of morality support for prohibition.

    5. The ban did succeed in reducing alcohol consumption however it caused a spike in violent criminal activity. The valentine's day was the most evident. When several members of Moran's were murdered
