JUNIORS ( GROUPS 1A AND 1B) LISTENING PRACTICE AND WRITING

Hi Everybody!
How was your long weekend? did you have the chance to go to the beach? Welcome to your first week in June! I have an interesting video for you about climate crisis and natural possibilities of fighting it.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO AND THE EXERCISES. Before watching the video , do the task preparation to verify that you'll understand most of the vocabulary about climate change.


Pause the video as many times as you wish and take notes of vocabulary you need, re-play the difficult parts. Just work with the video material as you will and as you need.

Watch the video carefully, do TASK 1 AND TASK 2.☝ These tasks are important to practice your listening comprehension.

Answer to the following question in the blog. Write a short paragraph to answer the question ( use 6 to 8 lines). Create an original answer, show what you think, do not copy your classmates answers or the transcript from the video. Use a dictionary to check spelling, do not use a translator.

Question: Do you agree with Greta and George that natural climate solutions are needed? What can you do to make a difference?

1A and 1B UNIT 5 Final Practice

How are you today? We are going to end the unit with a little review of grammar and vocab. To do that you need to take your book " Get Set" on page 70. Try to do the three sections Vocabulary Grammar and Writing.

1B UNIT 5 FIRST DAY - VOCABULARY ON MONEY . 28th April

Hi Everyone!

Ready to start a new unit?This time we'll talk about money and savings , interesting , huh? The whole today's practice  will take you about 50 minutes, so clear up your desk and get started!



STEP 1 .  USE YOUR BOOK " Get Set 1"  AND WATCH THE VIDEO .
Let's take your textbook and let's open it on page 59. (UNIT 5 Save and Spend).  Read the text and answer exercise 2. Watch THIS VIDEO and try to do exercises 3 on this page.(There are 9 key verbs , check their meaning first, see if they are regular or irregular verbs)

STEP 2 . NEW VOCAB
Because we are dealing with vocabulary, see the vocabulary section on pages 64 and 65.  Go to the back of the book and check the vocabulary reference (the green pages) on page 130. Use a dictionary to check the new vocab and the definitions . My advice is that you take down all the new vocab and make sure you understand the meaning of all the idioms (refranes) about money. There will be a worksheet tomorrow for further practice.

1B Listening and Vocabulary Practice

Here is a scene from the  famous award-winning sitcom "Friends".

Watch the scene using subtitles first, then pay attention to the vocabulary explanation ( the scene is repeated , line by line, explaining different vocabulary and pronunciation aspects). You can stop the video and play the scene as many times as you need.
 My advice is that you take notes of the words/expressions in blue on your notebook , so that you find answering the questions easier .
Answer the questions below .Once you finish , watch the end of the video were you'll try to understand the same scene WITHOUT subtitles.
TIME EXPECTED : the video lasts 23 minutes, and the exercise performance probably about 30 minutes. Try to avoid being interrupted while watching the video. I hope you enjoy the activity!

1B GRAMMAR FUTURE CONTINUOUS AND FUTURE PERFECT

Hello 1B Juniors!

How about a little grammar today? Today's grammar topic is FUTURE PERFECT AND FUTURE CONTINUOUS. Now I have organised this post in two sections; EXPLANATION AND PRACTICE. Follow the instructions.

EXPLANATION:

Remember we already reviewed the "basic" future structures ( WILL+ INF, GOING TO+ INF, PRESENT CONTINUOUS and even PRESENT SIMPLE ). See the post Monday 30th

But there are other tenses to express the future one of them is called FUTURE PERFECT and the other one FUTURE CONTINUOUS.

SEE THE VIDEO EXPLANATION FOR THE FUTURE CONTINUOUS ( also known as PROGRESSIVE). To express actions that you think that will be in progress in a particular time of the future.

Future Tenses Review // Relative review 1ºA GROUP 30th March

Good morning Juniors!

How are you today? Here is a little review of future tenses Will - Going to- Present Continuous and Present simple ( for a very specific use).  Listen to the radio program " 6 MINUTES ENGLISH" while you read the transcript attentively and answer the following questions. These exercises must be done today, March 30th.



  1. What's for dinner tonight at Finn's  and at Catherine's? Use a correct future form.
  2. What future form are we supposed to use if we decided something at the time of speaking?
  3. Who is Finn eating with? Use a full sentence.
  4. What is an arrangement? What future forms shall we use in that situation?
