Future Tenses Review // Relative review 1ºA GROUP 30th March

Good morning Juniors!

How are you today? Here is a little review of future tenses Will - Going to- Present Continuous and Present simple ( for a very specific use).  Listen to the radio program " 6 MINUTES ENGLISH" while you read the transcript attentively and answer the following questions. These exercises must be done today, March 30th.



  1. What's for dinner tonight at Finn's  and at Catherine's? Use a correct future form.
  2. What future form are we supposed to use if we decided something at the time of speaking?
  3. Who is Finn eating with? Use a full sentence.
  4. What is an arrangement? What future forms shall we use in that situation?
  5. In which situations are we going to use Present simple to talk about the future?
  6.  Use " be about to" in a sentence that is true for you, that describes your reality.
  7. Use three of the verbs that Callum use to talk about the future.

    1-Finn is going to eat curry at night and Catherine will probably eat a tomato soup.
    2-When we decide something at the time of speaking, we must use will because it is an instant decision.
    3-Finn is eating with his friends/finn is going to eat with his friends.
    4-An arrangement is a plan that you know is going to happen. In this situation, we should use be goint to or the present continuous.
    5-Present simple is used when we have a timetable like:"i start school at 8:15AM".
    6-I am about to drink a cup of cooffe
    7-My mum intends to shop some vegetables
    -My dog aim to eat before 3pm
    -I decided to study at university

    the answer:

    1: Finn is going to dinner curry and Catherine will probably dinner something easy to cook like tomato sauce
    2: We should use "be going to"
    3: Finn is going to eat with his friends
    4: Is a decision made in common by many people. In that situation we use present simple
    5: When we are going to talk about timetables
    6: There are 19:59, people are about to start clapping
    7: I plan to go to the university in 2 years.
    She is going to intend this tomorrow
    My friend will decided for me

    * What's for dinner tonight at Finn's and at Catherine's? Use a correct future form.

    Finn's dinner will be curry and Catherine's dinner will probably be tomato soup.

    * What future form are we supposed to use if we decided something at the time of speaking?

    It is a spontaneous decision, without prior planning, and we use “WILL”

    * Who is Finn eating with? Use a full sentence.

    Finn is going to eat with his friends.
    Finn's friends are eating with him.

    * What is an arrangement? What future forms shall we use in that situation?

    An arrangement is a prior planning of something that is going to happen for sure. We can use the "BE GOING TO" or "PRESENT CONTINUOUS".


    * In which situations are we going to use Present simple to talk about the future?

    The present simple to talk about future is used for something that is routine and we have a schedule.

    * Use "be about to" in a sentence that is true for you, that describes your reality.

    I am about to finish the task.

    * Use three of the verbs that Callum use to talk about the future.

    - That young man intends to cheat his parents.
    - I decided to prepare the school backpack.
    - My parents will decided for my studies.

    2 To say something when we speak we use: i'll or Will or I Will so this is one of the main differences between will and going to

    3 Finn is going to eat with a couple of friends

    4 An arrangement is a plan that you know very well what will happen



    5 when you have an about timetable: can be used when we go out to eat with friends what do you have with a plan


    6 (you can never be sure of everything but I will try)

    1. Hi Aylen! Thanks for answering. Check the sentence in which you used " decided". You are supposed to use that verb instead of Will+ INF. Have a look at it.

    2. We use "will" when we talk about a spontaneous decision.

    3. He's eating with a couple of friends.
    He's going to eat with a couple of friends.

    4. An arrangement is a plan or preparation for a future event. We can use the present continuous or be going to.

    5. We use the present simple for timetables, something that is planned to happen at specific time in the future.

    6. I'm about to do the question seven.

    7. -I aim to do all the homework tomorrow.
    -She intends to work in summer.
    -They decided to go there.
