1B UNIT 5 FIRST DAY - VOCABULARY ON MONEY . 28th April

Hi Everyone!

Ready to start a new unit?This time we'll talk about money and savings , interesting , huh? The whole today's practice  will take you about 50 minutes, so clear up your desk and get started!



STEP 1 .  USE YOUR BOOK " Get Set 1"  AND WATCH THE VIDEO .
Let's take your textbook and let's open it on page 59. (UNIT 5 Save and Spend).  Read the text and answer exercise 2. Watch THIS VIDEO and try to do exercises 3 on this page.(There are 9 key verbs , check their meaning first, see if they are regular or irregular verbs)

STEP 2 . NEW VOCAB
Because we are dealing with vocabulary, see the vocabulary section on pages 64 and 65.  Go to the back of the book and check the vocabulary reference (the green pages) on page 130. Use a dictionary to check the new vocab and the definitions . My advice is that you take down all the new vocab and make sure you understand the meaning of all the idioms (refranes) about money. There will be a worksheet tomorrow for further practice.

STEP 3. ONLINE PRACTICE
 TOPIC VOCAB. Do all the self-correcting exercises and write down new words.You do not need to post the results, just practise. 

STEP 4. WATCH THE VIDEO AGAIN AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS BELOW.



PICK ONE  question and write a brief answer on the blog. You can answer one of your  classmates if you want, too.
1. What person do you agree more Rebecca or Bryan? Why?
2. Do you usually save a lot of money? Explain
3. What do you usually spend your money on?
4. Do you usually lend money to people?
5. Do you usually pay back the money they lend you?
6. Do you think that money makes you happy?

    Do you usually pay back the money they lend you?

    I always pay back the money that somebody lend me , but the problem is that i'm usually late because i'm very forgetful.

    6. Do you think that money makes you happy?
    Well...I think money can't buy friends, but you cand afford lots of things like travelling or eating at expensive restaurants.
    Some people say that money can't buy your health but in some countries you must pay for operations, and some if then are really expensive...so I don't think money makes you happy, but it solves many problems.

    I generally lend money to my friends when they forget or don't have it at that time, because if the same thing happened to me another day, I would like them to do the same with me

    Yes! Every time my mother gives me money to hang out, I save some cash. And I don´t usually spend what I save until I have a lot of money to afford something I really want, instead of buying unnecessary things.

    Most of the times I spend my money on school supplies like notebooks or pens but I'm always saving money for buying videogames.

      3) What do you usually spend your money on?
      - My parents usually give me an amount of money at the beginning of the month, so i usually divide it into two parts. The first i use to buy clothes anda make-up because, they think are whims that i don´t need and that has to come out of weekend so i can go out and go to dinner with my friends.

    Hello Arantxa! I'm going to answer question number 3 (What do you usually spend your money on?)

    Well, the fact is that I have the money that my parents give me every weekend, that's my pay, and I usually spend most of it in the cinema and Tacobell. But then I have some money saved because my mother used to give me money to eat in the break time at school, but when I'm not hungry I keep it in a box and I'm still thinking in what I'm going to spend It, because I see cool things but then I think about It and I start to wonder if I should buy them or keep saving money for something that I would like in the future in case it's more expensive than the thing I want to buy now.
